His criticized WWE management (including Vince McMahon, Triple H – Paul Levesque, even Stephanie!) for mishandling talent and focusing on corporate interests over the product. Punk voiced real-life grievances, took shots at Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, he even broke the 4th wall by looking at the camera and saying ‘hi’ to his then friend, Colt Cabana. The promo resonated with fans in the arena and those watching at home, those who saw Punk as ‘their” voice.
