Brandi Carlile is a Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter, known for her emotion evoking lyrics as well as her musical blend of rock, folk, and country sounds. Her self-titled debut album hit the Billboard Charts in 2005 and she made it to Rolling Stone Magazine’s ’10 Artists to Watch in 2005′ list. She became known in 2005, but 2007 was the year she became a recognizable name on a larger scale with the release of her second album, The Story.
The first song released from the second album was ‘The Story’. This rock anthem showcases her multi-layered voice perfectly and features a memorable guitar + drums duet midway through (about the 1:30 mark in the video). The song itself was written by Phil Hanseroth, who along with twin brother Tim, will always be linked to Carlile, as they perform and tour together and all got their start in the Seattle music scene.
Here is the original music video that followed the song’s release.
