WWE Goes Hollywood! WrestleMania 39 Predictions

WrestleMania 39 Promo Poster

It’s that time of year again, WRESTLEMANIA IS HERE! This year the WWE goes Hollywood, in the 39th installment of it’s yearly MEGA event. The Tribal Chief Romans Reigns will main event the show on Night 2 by defending the Undsiputed WWE Universal Championship against the challenger Cody Rhodes. John Cena is also set to return to challenge Austin Theory for the United States Championship.

That’s enough chit-chat for now, time to get to the predictions! Let’s start with Night 1…

Braun Strowman & Ricochet vs. The Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy vs. Viking Raiders: This is where we begin to see the cracks in two tag teams, The Street Profits and Alpha Academy. Otis is on his way to become a model, and both Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins will begin to have ‘solo’ aspirations.

Winners: Braun Strowman and Ricochet

Dominik Mysterio vs. Rey Mysterio: Son versus Father, new versus old, this family drama gets settled tonight. I expect to see Rhea Rhipley as well as members of the Mysterio family getting involved in this match. In the end, the son won’t be ready enough to get the win.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

Becky Lynch, Lita & Trish Stratus vs. Damage CTRL: Trish Stratus and Lita coming back to WrestleMania, yeah, no way they’re losing!

Winners: Becky Lynch, Lita & Trish Stratus

Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins vs. Logan Paul: This will be a FUN match! Rollins is hot, he’s always a crowd favorite, but I’m calling for an upset in this one. Don’t be surprised if we see this match-up again a time or two this summer.

Winner: Logan Paul

Undisputed Tag Team Championship — The Usos (c) vs. Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens: In this writer’s opinion, this is the match that should headline Night 1. The Bloodline storyline is the BEST thing in wrestling right now, and the 4 men in this match are a BIG reason for it. Expect a technical match, expect a brawl, expect some serious emotions. In the end, it’s time for Sami Zayn to get his ‘WrestleMania’ championship moment.

Winners (and NEW Tag Team Champs): Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens

SmackDown Women’s Championship — Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Rhea Ripley: Rhea Ripley is GOLD… and after this match, that will mean championship gold as well. Expect Charlotte Flair to deliver in the spotlight as she always does, but this night belongs to Rhea.

Winner (and NEW Smackdown Women’s Champion): Rhea Ripley

United States Championship — Austin Theory (c) vs. John Cena: This will be a test for Austin Theory. Let’s see how he does on it. If the US title wasn’t on the line, I’d be calling for a John Cena win. And if for some reason Cena has some time-off from Hollywood and his many projects, I’d be calling for him to win. As it stands, I’m calling it as Austin Theory for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Austin Theory

And now let’s get to Night 2 predictions…

Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez vs. Natalya & Shotzi vs. Ronda Rousey & Shayna Bazler vs. Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville: If given the chance, and actual time, this match could end up being a crowd favorite. Ronda and Shayna are being booked strong and I expect them to be the ones standing tall in the end. [Side note: I hope WWE gives Chelsea and Sonya a good showing and does something with them going forward, with or without Carmella.]

Winners: Ronda Rousey and Shayna Bazler

Brock Lesnar vs. Omos: Battle of the Big Men, but wow Brock doesn’t look “as big” when standing in the ring with Omos. Brock is due for a win on a Live Premium Event, and this will be it. It will be quick, hopefully a little rough, and I can’t wait to see Brock get Omos up in the F5.

Winner: Brock Lesnar

Edge vs. Finn Balor (Hell in a Cell): Dilemma, dilemma… will we be seeing Finn Balor’s Demon King persona in this match? Will we perhaps be seeing Edge in a “Brood” inspired persona? Hell In A Cell matches always have the potential to deliver something great, and with these two in the ring, that’s what I’m predicting we’ll get. When the smoke clears, maybe even literally, I see Edge getting what may be his final WrestleMania moment.

Winner: Edge

Intercontinental Championship — Gunther (c) vs. Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre: We all know what we’re getting in this match… hard hits, bruised chests, probably even a little blood. We’ll see some interference from the rest of Imperium and the Brutes, but when the match is done, it’ll be Gunther standing with the IC championship in his hands.

Winner: Gunther

Raw Women’s Championship — Bianca Belair (c) vs. Asuka: Bianca Belair is already a superstar, and yet she may also be considered WWE’s hidden gem. The surface is still being scratched with her. Asuka will deliver in this match as she always does, because well, she’s Asuka! When the green mist clears in this case, I see Belair finding her way to victory, even after being sprayed in the face with the mist.

Winner: Bianca Belair

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship — Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cody Rhodes: The Main Event. The Tribal Chief vs. The American Nightmare. The lifelong dream vs. the 945 day title reign. A part of me wants Reigns to make it to 1,000 days, and I guess anything is possible, but Cody would lose TOO MUCH momentum if he doesn’t get the job done in this match. The match will go over 30 minutes, there’ll be many near falls, there’ll be a Solo Sikoa sighting, there’ll also be a Sami Zayn sighting in this match. But when Wrestlemania 39 concludes on Sunday night, it will be Cody celebrating becoming the first Rhodes family member to win the top WWE prize.

Winner (and NEW Undisputed WWE Universal Championship): Cody Rhodes
