In Recreating the NWO Impact – Part I, I wrote how Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and John Cena would be the three wrestlers I sent to invade AEW. Those three, standing tall in an AEW ring could equal the impact had when Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash stood tall in the WCW ring at the end of Bash of the Beach, 1996. Today we’ll talk about how Bray Wyatt and two other wrestlers (already in WWE) could be the new ‘Chosen 3’ (pun intended to the Wyatt 6) to take over and establish their own version of the always legendary ‘NWO.’
In today’s wrestling world, the IWC (Internet Wrestling Community) and the “dirt sheets” make it very difficult for anything to take place without the word getting out. Somehow the information always seems to get out. Whether it’s contract details or someone being spotted backstage, info often leaks.
But let’s get to the action and the potential storyline! This past Saturday at the end of Extreme Rules, Bray Wyatt made his return to wrestling. While speculation of Bray’s return was the buzz of the IWC for many weeks now, no one was exactly sure of how he would be returning. Would he be Bray Wyatt, would he be The Fiend, or would there be a new character debuting? And what’s the deal with the “Wyatt 6”? Is Bray getting five additional characters/wrestlers for his new stable?
There are many ways Triple H and the creative team can go forward with Bray. However, there are two particular wrestlers that when paired with Mr. Windham Rotunda (Bray’s real name), they could shift the balance of power from the current powerhouse of the WWE, the Bloodline. One name may come as a surprise, maybe neither name comes as a surprise. So, who are we talking about?
We’re talking about Karrion Kross and Braun Strowman. These 3 Alpha characters, alongside Scarlett Bordeaux, would form such a strong HEEL faction, that no one would be able to stop them. Not the Bloodline, not Imperium, not the New Day (hey, it’s fantasy booking so I can bring Big E back! [We miss you Big E!]), not the Brawling Brutes, not Judgment Day, not AJ Styles and the newly returned Good Brothers. Picture Wyatt, Strowman, and Kross showing up on RAW, Smackdown, and NXT and just causing chaos and mayhem. It wouldn’t be about wins or titles, it would be about establishing dominance, about doing what they want whenever they want. Imagine the potential storylines… the Wyatt trio defeat Imperium, the Bloodline, and the Brutes, forcing Roman, Sheamus, and Gunther to team up to TRY to take down this new faction taking over the WWE. Put those six in the ring, picture that stare down at the start of the match. Picture Bobby Lashley, tired of being outnumbered, having to go to Brock Lesnar and Drew McIntyre for backup. Maybe he returns to The Hurt Business to align with Omos and MVP? What about Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins having to form a temporary alliance just to survive?
If you’re a fan who’s hoping to see the Wyatt 6 be an actual faction, what about adding Bo Dallas and Liv Morgan, who hinted at a potential character change after her match at Extreme Rules? Add Bo, Liv, and Scarlett, and you have six. How about THIS following team: Bray Wyatt, Karrion Kross, Braun Strowman, Tomasso Ciampa, Dexter Lumis, and Bo Dallas. Picture that Survivor Series match! The Wyatt 6 vs ANY of the above mentioned names delivers a killer main event.
With Vince McMahon retiring, with Triple H calling the shots and taking over creative, with the current turmoil taking place in AEW, all lends to the timing being right for the WWE to GO BIG, GO STRONG, and create a storyline that the wrestling world will still be talking about 25 years later, ala the NWO.
